You are probably reading this page because you have already tried to stop smoking using nicotine patches, gum, pills, or pure willpower, none of which have worked for you.

Why did other stop smoking methods fail?

Smokers cite many reasons for their failure to stop, the main one is: –

Nicotine addiction
Often regarded as the main reason for not being able to stop smoking.  Through a process of self programming and belief fuelled by other failed quitters and media advertising the nicotine addiction appears to be much more powerful than it actually is.  For example, a drug addict will awaken in the night needing their drug, however smokers can have a full night’s sleep and do not wake up in the middle of the night craving nicotine. Most smokers can take long-haul flights with out suffering the effects of a true drug addiction.  A pregnant woman can immediately stop smoking on discovering she is pregnant despite the “addiction”.

Nicotine replacement
Gums, patches and other nicotine replacement methods are popular ways to try and stop smoking, however, a large proportion of users never give up, because they believe that they are still addicted to nicotine.  Any attempt to stop smoking using nicotine replacement methods leaves them in a panic when they eventually stop using their patch, gum, tablet etc.  In reality it is just the same result as trying to stop smoking without any “assistance”.

Psychological “Addiction”

Whilst there is a chemical addictive element to smoking the reason that many people fail to stop smoking is due in the main to underlying emotional or psychological issues which roughly fall into two groups…

Underlying Fears

  • Fear of feeling deprived
  • Fear of not being able to enjoy social events
  • Feeling insecure without your “friend” during stressful times

All of the reasons shown above and more are a result of sub-conscious programming associated with the smoking habit, and most would-be quitters try to suppress their emotions. This works only for a short period of time because in the battle between logical thinking and the sub-conscious there is usually only one clear winner, and that is the sub-conscious.  You experience the power of the subconscious every day as a smoker, lighting up automatically in response to various “triggers” in the sub-conscious.

Willpower and Logic Fail

Even the most dedicated smoker knows that smoking is not required to support life, in fact every smoker knows that each cigarette contributes to their premature ageing and likelihood of death from diseases associated with the habit.  Knowing that smoking is not healthy is a logical conclusion for most people, but as indicated above logical thinking is a poor influencer of our emotions and feelings that lie deeply buried in the subconscious. It is no surprise then that willpower for most people who try to stop smoking peters out after a few days and they return to the same smoking routines that have existed for a long time in their life.

You may be wondering how hypnotherapy can help you stop smoking.  Hypnosis is a natural state of mind during which the therapist can communicate with the powerful sub-conscious mind, and through a process of re-education can remove or re-channel any emotional attachment to smoking. Before attending a stop smoking session ask yourself a few simple questions…

  •  Am I 100% committed ? Yes that’s right, I have no desire to take your money unless you have complete commitment.
  •  Do I still enjoy smoking? If the answer is yes then don’t even consider stopping until you are completely certain you are ready. Without a complete desire to rid yourself of the habit then your chances of success are slim whatever method you choose.
  •  Am I doing it just because my wife, husband, partner, xxxx want’s me to stop smoking? Again you need to be certain that you are fully committed to stopping and usually it is not the case when others are pressurising you to quit.
  •  I want to be more healthy or I have been given medical advice to stop smoking. This is a great reason to stop smoking but I have had clients attend that have suffered heart attacks or serious illnesses associated with smoking and yet they are not fully committed to stopping.

The Programme

Alan has developed and refined his Stop Smoking Programme since 2006 when he beagn helping smokers quit and has seen many clients stop smoking for good using his Stop Smoking Programme.  The programme has now evolved into a 2 session process, as he has found from extensive testing that 2 sessions have proved to be more effective for clients.  Each Session lasts around 90 mins and is a multi-modal therapeutic approach to helping you rid yourself of the smoking habit.

The programme is comprised of two parts: –

Session 1

    • Understanding and examining your existing relationship with smoking
    • Addressing any concerns you may have about stopping smoking
    • Discussion of hypnosis and how it can help you stop smoking
    • Setting any future goals you may have e.g. better health or improved financial circumstances

      This is then followed by your first hypnosis session, during which you will experience the power of hypnosis in communicating with your subconscious mind.  You begin to focus on giving up the habit for good and start the journey towards being smoke-free.

Session 2 (2-3 days later)

In this your second hypnosis session you are guided into a deep level of relaxation during which your subconscious mind can re-examine its relationship with smoking.

Using the information gathered during Part 1 your subconscious is given powerful suggestions, creating a new desire to abandon the smoking habit. 

Once accepted by the subconscious mind the new suggestions will become deep rooted and give you the best opportunity to stop smoking and begin your new “Smoke Free” life.
